24 Clever Pregnant Belly Painting Ideas by Daizy Design

It perhaps makes sense that when someone has a successful business specializing in face painting, they might look to expand. And that is exactly what Daizy Design, a group of face painters in Wellington, New Zealand, has done. They have now started to recreate some stunning designs on the bellies of pregnant women. The idea behind this has been to create more than just a simple, basic image for a pregnancy photo. Recently Funny N LOL was fortunate to be in contact with the founding designer of Daizy Design, and we were able to ask her some specific questions about this new venture into belly painting. We were curious to know if this was a popular idea, and whether special paints were needed: “Belly Painting is becoming more and more popular around the world. It is a lovely way for the mother to celebrate the pregnancy and is a beautiful way to create something unique for maternity photos. I use the same professional face and body paints that I would use for face painting. The painting usually lasts a day or two, as long as you can keep it dry. Taking photos is a very important part of the belly painting process which means you are able to keep the design forever in the photograph. I have my own belly painted on a canvas above my little boy’s bed.”



We were also keen to know if they had any suggestions for when the best time during pregnancy was to have your belly painted: “Belly Painting is best done later in pregnancy when the belly is nice and round, this gives the artist more space to work with. I can be done at any stage; it can be a really neat way of tracking the progress by painting a design every few months that grows with the belly”.
