From celebs to charity workers, politicians to partygoers, the obsession with the ‘selfie’ spans far and wide.

Smartphone self-portraits are now fair game in high-level diplomatic meetings as well as college dorms, with snaps being shared widely on social media.

But the selfie phenomenon may be a craze in more ways than one.

The trend has even reached outer space: in December, Japanese astronaut Aki Hoshide took what might be the greatest selfie of all time at the International Space Station. The resulting image encompassed the sun, the Earth, two portions of a robotic arm, a spacesuit and the deep darkness of the infinite beyond.

It didn't take long for the imitations to start rushing in after Ellen posted her record-shattering Oscar selfie. By the next day, everyone was doing it. The firefighter group selfie. The military selfie. The group co-worker pic.

Yes, selfies are fun. We enjoy looking at them. We just got treated to a lot of great ones from the Olympics. They can capture memorable moments or unique events.

This girl takes her Selfies to the Next Level by adding hand sketch and creativity.
