Liam Livingstone, an English all-rounder, slammed a triple century in an ECB National Club Championship match on Sunday. Turning out for Nantwich Town, the 21-year-old hit 350 from just 138 deliveries in what is believed to be the highest ever score made in a one-day match.

Coming in to bat after the loss of the first wicket, Livingstone took on Caldy’s bowlers from the start and brought up his century in just 47 balls. He struck 34 fours and 27 sixes during his knock which means that just over 44% of the deliveries he faced found the fence.Liam-Livingstone-slams-highest-ever-2.pngLiam-Livingstone-slams-highest-ever-3.pngThe Lancastrian took 123 balls to get to his triple century and helped Nantwich put on a total of 579/7 on the board from just 45 overs. In the process, Livingstone bettered the previous record which was held by Nikhilesh Surendran who had hit 334* in a school match in Hyderabad, India in 2008/09.

In reply, Caldy could only muster up 79/9 and lost by 500 runs.

The highest score in an international one-day match is 264, which was scored by India’s Rohit Sharma against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in November 2014 while the top List A score of all time was recorded by Ali Brown, who hit 268 while playing for Surrey against Glamorgan back in 2002.

Livingstone wants to break into Lancashire’s first team.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after the knock, Livingstone said that it was at drinks that a couple of his teammates motivated him to go for the world record.
"It's all a bit surreal to be honest, but it was good fun. I started off with a few out the middle. I was 194 not out at drinks and the lads came on and said there was a world record on, so I knew about it but I wasn't really thinking about it. Once my innings was over, the lads came in and told me it was a new world record, so it's been a good day," he said.

He further said that he is determined to break into the Lancashire first team by putting in impressive performances for the second team this season.

"My main objective is to score runs for the second team at Lancashire and hopefully knock on the door for the first team," he added.
