Sultans of bling: Gem-encrusted wedding for Brunei prince.
A royal wedding to beat all royal weddings began April 5 and it is still going strong. However, the highlight came on April 12 when the youngest child of the Sultan of Brunei, Prince Abdul Malik, 31, exchanged vows with his new wife, Dayangku Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah Pengiran Haji Bolkiah, in the throne room of the monarch’s 1,788-room palace.

These photos reveal the opulent splendour of the wedding of the Sultan of Brunei's son, which boasted emeralds the size of quails' eggs and crystal-encrusted Christian Louboutin shoes. Prince Abdul Malik who's father is one of the world's richest men. Prine Abdul Malik is the sultan's youngest child and is second in the line to the throne. He and his bride can be seen seated next to each other as part of the enthronement ceremony - part of the wedding festivities, which began on April 5. The celebration will end on 15 April.
The couple wore extravagant matching outfits made of gold—including a dress for the 22-year-old bride, reportedly a former data systems analyst, studded with diamonds and large emeralds. The happy couple: The bride clutches a bouquet of crystal flowers, and sports a breathtaking three-piece jewellery set, with sizable emeralds.
The Sultan, an oil and gas potentate who is one of the world’s richest men, has five sons and seven daughters from three marriages. Guests at the ceremony were treated afterwards to a banquet in a palace hall that can accommodate 5,000 guests.The couple sat in the luxurious gilded thrones, wearing matching traditional attire during the lavish ceremony, part of the 11-day extravaganza.The translucent veil was reportedly topped with a second diamond tiara, set with rubies and a scarlet gem in the center.
