First Look: Emraan Hashmi Appears in 1st Trailer for 'Azhar' Biopic Film

"Azhar" is based on the life of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. The film, directed by Tony D'Souza, is scheduled for release on May 13, 2016.

Azhar chronicles the life and times of the former Indian cricket Captain, through his colorful journey. From international cricketing successes to controversial detours in his personal life, ‘Azhar’ is the story of a fallen hero.
Emraan Hashmi fills the shoes of the celebrated cricketer Azharuddin –the cricketer, the icon … the redeemed man!

The teaser shows Emraan Hashmi dressed up as Azhar on his way to the pitch with the narrative that follows as: “Main teen cheezon ke liye famous hoon. Ek, main khuda ko maanta hoon. Do, shaadi huyi hai meri (and a girl displays ‘marry me banner to him). Teen, match fix karne ka ilzaam hai mujhpar. Main Azhar…meri kahaani – 13 May 2016.”

Going by the teaser, the movie is also expected to showcase the old-world charm that the star cricketer exuded and made girls fall for him. Mohammad Azharuddin was implicated in a match-fixing scandal in the year 2000 and was subsequently banned for life by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The Andhra Pradesh High Court later lifted the ban in November 2012.
