Fear of judgement is stopping many of us from taking part in exercise.
But as thousands of women up and down the country are proving, it really doesn’t have to.

Sport England's new campaign to encourage girls and women to exercise is a triumph

The 30-second ads don't hold back on their motivational tactics and they're not exactly subtle. Hard-hitting slogans include "Sweating like a pig, feeling like a fox" and "I kick balls, deal with it" burst out of the screen. These lines might be construed as a touch patronising but if they end up boosting women's confidence then perhaps the end justifies the means.

This video produced by London FCB Inferno for Support England Campaign is an amazing gift to the ‘every day’ women, as they call them. Their ‘This Girl Can’ encourages women of all ages, shapes and sizes, to get out there and work out without an insecure feeling of being judged by someone.

Leave your inhibitions at the door; it really is the taking part that counts.
