http://goo.gl/bu3vRV
You ask any kid taking up cricket on who would he want to be? He would reply he wants to be an all-rounder. The game of cricket has gone through a lot of evolutions over time, and one of them has been the increasing importance on the need for all-rounders. In the longest format of the game, there was much lesser importance to the all-rounders. In fact, captains prefer to have specialists – let it be batting or bowling. But as the limited overs format was introduced, captains looked for players who can do a bit of batting and bowling. The shorter the format, the more need for all-rounders it looks like. In the IPL, many all-rounders have come and made a name for themselves in this format.

Top 10 Best All-Rounders in IPL :

10. Dwayne Bravo (West Indies)
1-Dwayne-Bravo-West-Indies

Dwayne Bravo is one of the best modern era all-rounders to have played cricket from the Caribbean Islands. He may have not been selected for the World Cup 2015 squad, but he surely packs a punch in this format of the game. Dwayne Bravo has been a quintessential part of the IPL franchisees he has played for. He currently plays for Chennai Superkings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Superkings captain MS Dhoni has high praises for this West Indians. In Bravo he has someone who can bowl well at the death overs, break partnerships and someone who can consistently score runs. Dwayne Bravo has played 78 matches overall, from which he has scored 1044 runs and taken 86 wickets. From the stats it is clear that he has made his bowling do the talking on most occasions. 2-Irfan-Pathan-India

Irfan Pathan, started off as a frontline pace bowler for India, but developed his batting attributes as his career progressed. Over the years, in the IPL he has played some matured and crucial innings for his IPL franchises. Initially, in the IPL he was one of the top wicket takers in the tournament during his Kings XI Punjab days. But his bowling took a dip with rising number of injuries and him dropping down a lot of pace. However, he has been unable to threaten the opposition with his bowling or be consistent with his batting. However, he has been handy for the franchisees he has played in, helping them to success. Irfan Pathan has played in 98 matches overall, scoring 1111 runs and scalping 80 wickets. He is no. 9 in the list of top 10 best all rounders in IPL.

8. Ravindra Jadeja (India)3-Ravindra-Jadeja-India

Ravindra Jadeja is probably one cricketer who has a lot to thank the IPL for his change in fortunes. If it wasn’t for Rajasthan Royals and Shane Warne he wouldn’t have made it big in Indian cricket. Ravindra Jadeja, started off as a bowler in this format and has evolved himself into a bowling all-rounder. Ravindra Jadeja moved on to Kochi Tuskers and then ultimately joined Chennai Superkings, when he was the million dollar player in the auction. He has not been quite able to replicate his performances at Kochi Tuskers and Rajasthan Royals, but he has been doing his bit for Chennai Superkings. When he started to be recognized in the IPL, he began his dream run for the Indian team as well. He played a crucial role in winning the Champions Trophy in England with his all-rounding attributes. Ravindra Jadeja has scored 1268 runs and has taken 57 wickets from 98 matches overall. He is no. 8 in the list.

7. Keiron Pollard (West Indies)4-Keiron-Pollard-West-Indies

Since Pollard made his mark in the CLT20 tournament with Trinidad and Tobago, he has been having a roller coaster ride. Pollard made his way into the Mumbai Indians side with his performance for the West Indian team and has been an integral part since then. Like Ravindra Jadeja, he is another cricketer who has a lot to thank this format and precisely the IPL. Pollard made a name as a pinch hitter through his exploits with Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Besides being a swashbuckling batsman, he is an effective medium pace bowler as well. He provides the crucial breakthroughs and knows the art of mixing pace with the slower ones as well. Keiron Pollard has played 82 matches so far, of which every match came for the Mumbai Indians. He has scored 1491 runs and 54 wickets. He is no. 7 in the list.

6. Jean Paul Duminy (South Africa)
5-Jean-Paul-Duminy-South-Africa

JP Duminy is one among the South African players like Jaques Kallis, Ab Devilliers, Albie Morkel who has been consistent in the IPL. JP Duminy started off in international cricket and IPL as a middle order batsman who knew to play both the orthodox and out of the book shots. He was extremely successful in his vigour as a batsman. But off late, during the past few seasons he has added another armour up his sleeve – bowling. Duminy is not a bowler who is unplayable, but certainly handy bowler to have in the limited overs format. Over the years, JP Duminy has played for teams like Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers and Delhi Darevils. He was earning his success in Deccan Chargers, but had to move on into Delhi Daredevils when Deccan Chargers were disbanded. JP Duminy has played just 58 matches in the IPL, of which he has scored 1517 runs and scalped 20 wickets. The most impressive part remains to be his batting though, averaging at 38.90 which is creditable. Duminy is no. 6 in the list of top 10 best all rounders in IPL.

5. Yuvraj Singh (India)
6-Yuvraj-Singh-India

The story of Yuvraj Singh and IPL is quite interesting, despite being one of the best batsmen in the T20 format, he hasn’t been a big success in IPL. In fact, his critics consider him to be a failure for whichever franchise he has played for. Yuvraj Singh has played for 4 franchisees so far, of which Kings XI Punjab has been the team he has played the most. Yuvraj Singh was captain for Kings XI Punjab, and after a few disastrous seasons he was sold to Pune Warriors. But always he is a top buy in the transfer market, the same fact was materialized when he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 7 and then again Delhi Daredevils in IPL 8. Yuvraj may not have the same substance, he had 3 or 4 years ago but he still can take the game away on his day. Yuvraj Singh has played 89 matches overall, scored 1972 runs and scalped 34 wickets. He is no. 5 in the list.

4. Shane Watson (Australia)7-Shane-Watson-Australia

It is tough to see Shane Watson play for any other team. There is no player for Rajasthan Royals more important than Watson. He started the IPL playing under fellow Australian Shane Warne, and now he captains the team. It seems like the Royals are not ready to leave him to play for another franchisee as well. Like many others, Watson would probably have not ended up in the Australian team if he wasn’t involved in the IPL. He has grown into being one of the most fearsome batsmen in World cricket today. Shane Watson has the ability to change gears according to the situation, and then give the important breakthroughs when the situation demands. He has been pretty much impressive in the IPL in his 70 matches he has played so far. He has scored 2143 runs at an impressive average of 36.32 and scalped 55 wickets at 26.64. Shane Watson is no. 4 in the list of top 10 greatest all rounders in IPL.

3. Yusuf Pathan (India)8-Yusuf-Pathan-India

Even when he was left out of the Indian team, it was IPL that kept him going. One of the greatest positives of the IPL has been the emergence of pinch hitters like Yusuf Pathan. Pre-IPL era none would have even be talking about someone like Yusuf Pathan, for he was not much consistent in first class. But it was his captain at Rajasthan Royals, Shane Warne that saw the talent that lies within him. He may have not made it big in international cricket, but he has made a name for him in this format and in the IPL. Yusuf Pathan has played 110 matches for which most of the matches has been for Rajasthan Royals. In addition to his batting exploits, he has taken 39 wickets. When the captain needs breakthroughs, Yusuf Pathan answers it with his stump to stump line. Yusuf Pathan is no. 3 in the list.

2. Jacques Kallis (South Africa)9-Jacques-Kallis-South-Africa

Jacques Kallis would go down in the history of the game as one of the best all-rounders in the modern era. For a classical batsmen like Kallis to have adopted into the shortest format of the game is still a mystery. but that’s how legends are. They rise up when the situations are demanding and when the tide is against them. Jacques Kallis wanted to make a statement to his critics who touted him as a batsman who often wastes a lot of balls. He made a lot of merry with teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knightriders with his batting and bowling attributes. He made a comeback into the South African team as well by virtue of his good performances in the IPL. Kallis has made 2427 runs and scalped 65 wickets. Jacques Kallis is no. 2 in the list.

1. Suresh Raina (India)10-Suresh-Raina-India

Suresh Raina is the most quintessential player for the Chennai Superkings after MS Dhoni obviously ! When Dhoni was not performing with the bat, there was always a Suresh Raina who took up the responsibility. Things were not happening in favour of Raina, when he was dropped from the Indian team in 2007. It was then BCCI went ahead with the Indian Premier League. Consistent performances in the IPL helped Raina to regain his form and his place in the Indian team. Since then he has been a mainstay both for the national side and Chennai Superkings. The thing with Raina is that, he is in every sense an all-rounder be it on the field, with the bat and with the ball. When Dhoni runs out fuel, he gives Raina the ball and in most cases he delivers. Raina is also one of the top run getters in the Indian Premier League. Suresh Raina has played 120 matches and scored 3452 runs at an impressive average of 35.31. He has also scalped 22 wickets so far in the IPL. He is no. 1 in the list of top 10 best all rounders in IPL.
