Presently suicide has become so frequent. Every morning you read your usual newspaper with your cup of tea, there is definitely to be an article covering that. Teens, housewives, bachelors, jobseekers you just name it. It’s a raging flow of self-destruction. Bollywood is no exception for this. It has witnessed its own share of suicides, which is again, very sad. Shikha Joshi, a 40-year-old model-turned-actress of B.A. Pass fame, took her own life under mysterious circumstances at her MHADA flat in Versova, Mumbai, on the evening of May 16, 2015.

In her dying moments, model-turned-actor Shikha Joshi allegedly named well-known cosmetic surgeon Dr Vijay Sharma, among others, who she claimed had been troubling her, said a friend in her statement to the police on Sunday. Her words were recorded on a cellphone by the friend Joshi was living with. Shikha was found in the bathroom of her friend’s home on Saturday with her throat slit in a suspected suicide bid. However, she collapsed immediately due to excessive bleeding.” She was rushed to Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri, where she was pronounced dead.” Police said Shikha was depressed as she had not found work in a while.
The actress was survived by a 19-year-old daughter and her husband reportedly lives in the US. Shikha's parents live in New Delhi and she had moved to Mumbai some time ago. She is said to have essayed small roles in TV shows but did not have sustained work or a consistent source of income. Her first husband died a few years ago. She had married a second time, but her husband lives in the US. Officers said her second husband wanted her to settle in the US, but she refused.
Shikha said that the molestation incident had harmed her acting career and that she was tired of her life, according to Madhu's statement. Shikha also said that no one should be blamed for her death. Madhu has also claimed that Shikha had been drinking on Saturday afternoon. She said that she asked Shikha to give the reason for committing suicide so she would not face suspicion.
Ajay Bahl, who directed the actor in BA Pass, told Hindustan Times, "Shikha came across as a very happy-go-lucky person when I worked with her in BA Pass. She auditioned for us and we liked her. She was a beautiful actor and I planned to work with her in one of my upcoming projects. In fact, she even came to my office three to four months ago."
The controversy:
On November 10, 2013, the Amboli police had arrested Shikha and her brother for pelting stones at the residence of cosmetic surgeon, Dr Vijay Sharma in Andheri. Before her arrest, she had filed a molestation complaint against the doctor in 2011.
Could that be the reason of her suicide? We can only wonder.
