Nawazuddin Siddiqui, The Actor Par Excellence That's Why Everyone Loves Him

Did you know that the man credited with single-handedly reversing the idea that Bollywood is for every aspiring actor from small towns had done 26 films before we even knew his name? Today, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the name that do not require any introduction completes 41 years of his life and we are nothing less than grateful to have such a wonderful actor in our times. Who doesn’t know Faizal Khan from Gangs of Wasseypur or Layak from Badlapur or Shiv Gajra from the movie Kick? When Nawazuddin is in a frame, it is hard to notice anyone or anything else but his incredible intensity, controlled yet dominant dialogue delivery, and his average yet charming personality.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui's first onscreen appearance was in Aamir Khan's Sarfarosh in 1999. He played a local criminal who is arrested and interrogated after a raid at Victoria House in the film.

Shool (1999)

His next film was in the same year, another great piece of cinema starring Manoj Bajpayee. Nawazuddin was seen as a waiter in the movie.

Munnabhai MBBS (2003)

Nawazuddin played a petty criminal who pickpockets Sunil Dutt's wallet (Sanjay Dutt's dad in the film as well) in the Rajkumar Hirani hit.

Black Friday (2004)

Nawazuddin did cameos in many films before hitting the jackpot with series of unforgettable performances. And here are films that offered him roles lengthy enough to explore his skills.

Gangs of Wasseypur (2012)

Anurag Kashyap created the grand canvas that Nawazuddin's acting prowess needed. After his portrayal of Faizal Khan, Manoj Bajpayee's son in the movie, life was never the same for Nawazuddin.

Kick (2014)

Nawazuddin played the main antagonist in Salman Khan-starrer Kick. Shiv Gajra's evil laugh is simply unforgettable.

Badlapur (2015)

A criminal who robs banks and kills people but also turns around to give a guilt trip to his opponent. Sriram Raghavan's Badlapur could not have been the same experience were it not for Nawazuddin.

Nawazuddin proudly spoke of his struggles. Not once did he shy from talking about the dark times he went through. At one point, he said he still travels by public bus and local trains whenever convenient. He then announced that he was here to enjoy his newfound fame. He wanted to be better than the best. And he wanted the same kind of adulation that the Khans get that will remain a pipe dream.

For most people this is enough to be a real hero. That one challenge the system and find success within it. That although your background may be really bad, the promise of future is always something to strive for. That although you may love your respective Khan, there is an average-looking skinny guy who will captivate you just as much when he comes on screen.
