Iconic former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar turns 42 today. It was just over 16 months ago that Tendulkar stepped out of cricket’s arc-lights by bidding adieu to the game. His emotional farewell at the Wankhede Stadium here at the conclusion of the 2013 India-West Indies Test series is still fresh in his admirers’ mind.

We all wish Happy Birthday to Great Sachin Tendulkar who is charming, talented and witty, and reminds us a God.

In a nutshell Perhaps the most complete batsman and the most worshipped cricketer in the world, Tendulkar holds just about every batting record worth owning in the game, including those for most runs and hundreds in Tests and ODIs, and most international runs.

Sachin Tendulkar overcame the barrier to score first ever double century in ODIs with his knock against South Africa at Gwalior on February 24, 2009.  On his birthday let's take a look on that classic inning where all of us were witness of double ton first time and none other than by Little Master. That same year he was named the 2010 International Cricket Council Cricketer of the Year.

Tendulkar's considerable achievements seem greater still when looked at in the light of the burden of expectations he had to bear from his adoring but somewhat unreasonable followers, who have been prone to regard anything less than a hundred in each innings as a failure. The aura may have dimmed, if only slightly, as the years on the international circuit took their toll on the body, but Tendulkar remains, by a distance, the most worshipped cricketer in the world.

Though the batting maestro has ended his on-field journey, he continues to attract attention with his insights and comments about the game that he adorned for nearly a quarter century. Tendulkar, whose autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’ was released to tremendous response in November last year, was the Brand Ambassador of the ICC World Cup held in the Antipodes in February-March.

Post-Cricket Career
On June 4, 2012, Tendulkar was sworn in as Rajya Sabha member at the Parliament House in New Delhi. The following year, he retired from cricket activities across the board and began accumulation post-retirement accolades, notably becoming the first sportsperson and youngest person to be conferred the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in November 2013.

Have a wonderful, happy, healthy birthday now and forever. Happy Birthday!
