Maybe it's just a part of growing up digital and purely a new kind of "identity development" whose practice is so intermingled into our culture that NOT participating could be worse -- well, probably not, but nonetheless, we cannot deny that it is becoming a necessity to keep pace with a new era of social communication. If a picture says a thousand words, then the pictures people choose to display to the world say a million words. Personal items and photos are chosen carefully to communicate something to the rest of the world.
